The painting, "Honor of
the Force", was commissioned by the Pennsylvania State Police Historical, Educational
and Memorial Center to commemorate the Centennial Anniversary Celebration of the oldest
uniformed State Police force in the nation. "Honor of the Force" hallmarks
100 years of honorable service and loyalty to the people of the Commonwealth of Pa. Getsinger's
touching, well-rendered treatment (the most recent of over 200 works) is derived from an
image originally conceived by retired PA Trooper Barry Carr (To view the original image

The emotionally charged image unites, for a brief moment in time, a modern day Pennsylvania
Trooper and the spirit of a Trooper from over 100 years ago.

Gently touching tablets etched with the names of Troopers who gave their lives, heads are
bowed in reflection of their own daily sacrifice, and the ultimate sacrifice of ninety peers.
